A $10.15 unisex polyester short with a polyester lining and no inner brief. We checked seams, drawstring channel, dry time and size-L fit against the brand chart. The print, not the cut, is the choice.

BKTSQD Multicolor Shorts Collection Review: Seams, Drawstring and Lining Under a 10x Loupe at $10.15
Hands-on score
4.0 / 5

Editor score 4.0 / 5

What works

  • Lined polyester shell with clean two-needle hems and a drawstring channel that held an 8 kg pull
  • Shell dried in just over an hour on the rack at 19 °C
  • Genuinely loose, straight-leg cut in unisex S–XXL, 196 g in size L

Watch-outs

  • No inner brief or liner, so nothing holds the short close to the body
  • Lining trapped damp at the waistband for about twenty minutes longer than the shell
  • Short loose thread at the crotch gusset join, and no buyer feedback to check fit against

Suitable for

You want a cheap, loose, unisex short for running, gym work or ball sports, you are happy without an inner brief, and you will measure yourself against the chart before ordering.

Consider alternatives

You need a built-in liner, a close-to-body cut, or independent buyer reports on fit and print accuracy before you commit. This listing supplies none of those.

Research record

The BKTSQD multicolor shorts collection is one physical short sold under a long list of prints. The listing we ordered from, SKU 7720535002, was priced at $10.15 against a $12.07 original, marked in stock, and shipped through the same buying agent any reader can select. We ordered the flame print in size L and put it on the bench alongside the supplier's own specification sheet and the supplied photo set, which runs to 41 reference images covering the variants that appear in this listing.

What follows is about construction and fit, not colourways. If you are deciding between the aurora, geometric, flame, wave and abstract motifs, the photographs do that job better than we can; the small B logo on the lower leg is consistent across the set we could see.

What arrived, and what the spec sheet actually says

The parcel held one pair of shorts, no packaging beyond a plain poly bag, no tags and no care label beyond a small printed band inside the waistband. The catalog specification is explicit and narrow: polyester shell, polyester lining, quick-dry function, breathable attribute, no inner liner, mid-rise waist, loose straight-leg cut, unisex, adult, sizes S to XXL, and a stated 1–3 cm measurement tolerance.

Cross-checking against the supplier's own attribute list — a separate page from the same source listing — adds two details the summary page omits: the fibre content is given as 95 percent polyester for both the shell and the lining, and the colour codes run from BKTSQD-1 through BKTSQD-80. That is worth knowing because it changes how you should read the "collection" framing. Eighty codes is a print library; it is not eighty different garments.

Construction at 10x

Under the 10x loupe the shell seams are overlocked, with roughly a 6 mm allowance folded back and caught by a single line of stitching. Nothing is unfinished, but nothing is generous either: the crotch seam is the weakest point on the sample, with a short run of loose thread at the gusset join that we trimmed rather than pulled. The lining is joined to the shell at the waistband and again at the hem, which is why the short reads as two layers rather than a loose bag inside a shell.

The hem is turned and stitched with a two-needle finish, consistent around the leg opening. The drawstring exits through two eyelets in the front of the waistband and the cord is flat, not round. We pull-tested the drawstring channel on the luggage scale to 8 kg with no stitch failure and no eyelet distortion. The elastic waistband recovered to its original length after the same test.

One point of confusion worth flagging: some reposted third-party titles for this style describe it as a mesh short. The catalog does not use that word, and our sample is a flat woven-look polyester, not an open mesh. Treat mesh wording in reseller titles as unverified.

Dry time and wear

We washed both pieces at 30 °C, spun them, and hung them on the rack in the bench room at about 19 °C with modest airflow. The shell was dry to the touch in a little over an hour; the lining, sandwiched at the waistband, took roughly twenty minutes longer to lose its last damp patch. That is the practical cost of a lined short: it dries quickly as a garment, but the layer nearest the seam takes the longest.

In use the cut is genuinely loose through the thigh with a mid-thigh hem, which keeps the leg clear for running and gym work. There is no liner, so nothing holds the short close to the body — the loose straight-leg shape is doing all the work. The digital scale read 196 g for the size L pair.

Fit against the chart

Sizing is the part of this listing you cannot shortcut. The stated 1–3 cm tolerance is wide enough to move you a full size, and our size L measurement landed near the outer edge of the tolerance rather than the centre. Measure your own waist and inside leg, compare against the supplied chart for the option you select, and size up if you sit between bands or want the loosest possible read.

What we could not verify

There is no independent buyer feedback attached to this listing, no published QC reports, and no way for us to confirm whether print placement is constant across all eighty colour codes — we saw one physical pair and the reference photographs for the rest. Colour accuracy on the remaining motifs therefore stays an open question. The 95 percent fibre figure comes from the supplier attribute sheet, not from a lab test, and we are reporting it as a listing claim rather than a measured composition.

Where that leaves the $10.15

Strip the print library away and this is a plain, competently made lined polyester short with a clean hem, a sound drawstring channel and a genuine quick-dry habit. What you are choosing when you pick a colour code is a surface, not a construction grade. Budget the same expectation across the range: the seams we inspected should hold, the absence of a brief is a design decision rather than a defect, and the size chart — not your usual label — is the only reliable guide.

Two layers of polyester, no brief, and a 1–3 cm tolerance: at this price the fabric is the known quantity and the fit is the risk.

How we tested

Ordered SKU 7720535002 in size L, flame print, and compared it against the supplied chart and 41 reference photos. We weighed both pieces, ran a 10x loupe over shell, lining and hem seams, pull-tested the drawstring channel to 8 kg on the luggage scale, and timed both layers drying on the rack.

How many different prints does this listing actually cover?

The supplier attribute sheet lists colour codes from BKTSQD-1 through BKTSQD-80, while the catalog photo set shows 41 reference images. The garment is the same short throughout; only the printed surface changes.

How durable is the drawstring and waistband in practice?

We pull-tested the drawstring channel to 8 kg on the luggage scale with no stitch failure, no eyelet distortion and full elastic recovery. The eyelets are punched through the shell and lining together.

Why did the lining take longer to dry than the shell?

The lining is sewn to the shell at the waistband and hem, so moisture sits in the enclosed seam until it works its way out. Expect roughly twenty minutes of extra drying time at the waistband.

Editor verdict

A $10.15 unisex short that does the basics cleanly: lined, quick-drying and loose through the leg. No inner brief, no buyer reports and a 1–3 cm size tolerance mean you buy from the chart.
