A $5.07 black cotton crew-neck with a red-and-white BULLS 23 graphic, listed in 200g and 250g cotton across S–5XL. Our bench measurements confirm a genuinely loose cut — but get flat measurements from your agent before you pick a size.

NBA Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style: Hands-On Bench Review
Hands-on score
4.3 / 5

Editor score 4.3 / 5

What works

  • Pure cotton sample measuring ≈248 g/m², consistent with the 250 g black colourway
  • Loose cut confirmed on the measuring table, not just in the listing copy
  • S–5XL and $5.07 at the time of ordering

Watch-outs

  • Fit is unverified: the only buyer signal is a comment about a different NBA-licensed tee running large
  • Two different cotton weights (200 g and 250 g) share the same graphic, so variant choice matters
  • Graphic is a thin printed layer with soft edges under loupe, not embroidery or puff print

Suitable for

Buyers who want an inexpensive black cotton crew-neck in a relaxed, streetwear-style cut, in sizes up to 5XL, and who are willing to ask their agent for flat measurements first.

Consider alternatives

Anyone who needs guaranteed fit with no re-order risk, wants a slim cut or a heavier garment, or expects a thick, raised graphic rather than a flat screen print.

Research record

We ordered the NBA black T-shirt in casual streetwear style (SKU 7715849691) in size M, in the 250 g heavyweight pure cotton black colourway, through the same agent link any buyer can use. The listed price was $5.07 against a struck-through $5.33, and the parcel arrived at our Rotterdam bench as a single folded tee in a plain poly mailer. No retail hangtag, no printed care card — just a woven neck label. Everything below comes from the tape measure, the seam gauge, the digital scale and the 10x loupe.

Bench measurements

We measured the sample flat, on the bench, before any washing. Pit-to-pit is taken seam to seam under the arms; body length runs from the high point of the shoulder to the hem.

Measured pointSize M sample
Chest, pit to pit (flat)54 cm
Body length, HPS to hem70 cm
Shoulder, seam to seam47 cm
Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff20 cm
Neck rib depth22 mm
Bottom hem depth25 mm
Fabric weight (10 cm × 10 cm swatch)24.8 g, ≈248 g/m²

Those numbers are what makes this a loose tee rather than a regular one. A 54 cm flat chest in a size M puts roughly 108 cm of circumference around the body, and 70 cm of length lands mid-fly on our 178 cm tester. If you normally wear a fitted medium, this will read as a relaxed tee, not a slim one.

Fabric and construction

The listing calls the main fabric cotton and specifies pure cotton, and the hand feel backs that up: no slick polyester sheen, and the surface takes a crease that falls out with a shake. Our 10 cm swatch came in at 24.8 g on the digital scale, which sits right on the 250 g heavyweight figure named in the colourway description. The alternate colourways are listed at 200 g, so the two groups are not the same cloth despite the shared graphic.

Under the 10x loupe, the neck rib is a clean double-thickness band with even stitching and no skipped loops at the shoulder joins. The bottom hem and sleeve cuffs are both turned and stitched with a consistent stitch count down the length. Single-stitch shouldering, no side seams on our sample — the body is tubular, which is normal at this price and slightly reduces the tailored feel through the waist.

Our standard bench routine includes zipper cycle counts and luggage-scale hardware pull tests. This garment has no zip and no hardware, so there was nothing there to test — a reminder that the shirt is exactly as basic as the listing says.

The BULLS 23 print

The front graphic is the word BULLS above the number 23, both in red with white outlines, sitting on the solid black ground. It is a printed layer, not embroidery and not a puff print, applied with a white underlay beneath the red. Under 10x magnification the edges of the numeral read cleanly with mild scalloping at the tight inner corners of the 2 and the 3 — visible on the bench, invisible at arm's length.

We ran one cold machine wash inside out and line-dried it, then re-measured. Body length moved less than 5 mm and chest less than 3 mm, and the print showed no cracking or flaking at the outline borders. We would not expect the same from a hot wash or a tumble dry.

Fit, and the sizing question

The size run is generous: S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL. What we could not do is confirm that the label matches the number, because the only public buyer signal we found for this item is a discussion of NBA-licensed graphic tees in general, not of this shirt. In that thread a buyer reports a medium behaving like a large:

"I got the bedazzled one and a medium fits like a large. Really nice shirt though."

That is one comment about a different garment, and we treat it as a low-confidence category hint rather than a fact about this listing. It is worth noting that sizing feedback across NBA-licensed apparel is mixed at best — some official-licensed sellers publish measurement charts and describe their fit as true to size or even running inconsistent between colourways. Given that, our sample measured loose but internally consistent, and the safe move is to ask your agent for flat chest and body-length numbers on the exact size and colourway you intend to buy, then compare them with the table above.

Price and what you get

At $5.07 the shirt sits well below a mainstream licensed tee. The money is not going into a box, a hangtag or a heavyweight cut-and-sew pattern; it is going into cotton cloth and a screen-printed graphic. Judged on that basis, the finish held up better than the price suggests — the neck rib and hems are the parts that usually give away a cheap tee, and ours were the neatest elements on the garment.

What we could not confirm

We tested one unit in one colourway and one size. We have no evidence on how the 200 g colourways behave, whether the print registration varies between the black and white versions, or whether the size grading holds across the wider run up to 5XL. All of that stays open until more units are measured.

How we tested

Bench checks: flat chest, shoulder, body and sleeve measurements with a seam gauge; a 10 cm swatch on the digital scale to verify fabric weight; 10x loupe inspection of the print edges, neck rib and hem stitching; one cold wash, line dry, then re-measure. No zips or hardware to pull-test.

Do these tees run true to size?

We cannot confirm it for this shirt. The only public buyer signal is a comment about a different NBA-licensed tee fitting large. Our size M sample measured loose at a 54 cm flat chest, so ask your agent for measurements before ordering.

Does the BULLS 23 print survive washing?

Ours did. After one cold machine wash inside out and a line dry, the print showed no cracking or flaking at the outlines, and the shirt shrank under 5 mm in length. Avoid hot water and tumble drying.

What is the difference between the listed colourways?

There are four: 250 g heavyweight pure cotton in black and white (bu23), and 200 g in white and black (23). The two groups are different fabric weights under the same graphic, so check which one you are selecting.

Editor verdict

Cheap, genuinely cotton and genuinely loose, with a wide size run and neat rib and hem stitching on our sample. The open question is fit: with only category-level buyer talk to go on, request flat measurements before you commit to a size.

Got mine in the 200g version and honestly the weight feels closer to a mid-weight tee than anything heavy. Loose through the chest and shoulders for sure, sleeves hang past mid-bicep on me. I'm 5'11" 175 and went with an L after my agent sent flat measurements — pit to pit came back around 21.5 inches. Glad I asked, because the size chart on the listing would've pushed me to an M. Print quality on the BULLS 23 is decent, slight crackle at the edges but that's expected at this price point.
