We ordered the Rhude "Dark" Series tee in two graphics and bench-measured both. Cotton weight lands in the listed 250–300 gsm band, print edges are clean, and the boxy cut runs oversized. Size down.

Research record

The Rhude "Dark" Series T-Shirt Collection is listed at $8.36 USD, down from $9.53, as a pure-cotton printed tee in S, M, L and XL. We ordered two graphics from the range — a mountain scene and a racing-style print — through a standard agent and put both on the bench alongside a measuring tape, a digital scale and a 10x loupe before anything else happened.

What we ordered and how we checked it

The parcel arrived on a Tuesday and was photographed on the bench before opening, as every test parcel is. Both shirts were laid flat, allowed to settle, then measured at the chest, shoulder, body length and hem width. We weighed each sample to estimate fabric weight per square metre, counted stitch density at the shoulder seam and hem under the loupe, inspected the collar rib, and pulled the print edges with tape to see how the graphics are bonded to the cotton. Fit on body was checked on two wearers, one who normally takes a Medium and one who normally takes a Large.

Fabric and construction on the bench

The listing claims pure cotton at 250–300 gsm with a non-iron finish. Our weighed samples landed at roughly 265–275 gsm, inside the stated band and noticeably denser than a typical $8 blank. Hand feel is dry and slightly papery out of the bag, softening after the first wash. Stitch density at the shoulder seam read 10–11 stitches per inch with no visible slippage, and the double-needle hem held straight after two cold washes.

The numbers describe a genuinely wide body with a length that does not scale up with it — the 54 cm chest paired with a 68 cm length is the shape behind most of the sizing complaints we found.

Print execution

Graphics are the reason to buy this range, and the two we handled are consistent with each other. Edge definition on the mountain print is crisp with no halo or bleed into the cotton, and the racing graphic shows the same registration across both samples. Tape pulls lifted nothing from the surface, and after two cold washes inside out the prints showed no cracking at the fold lines. Nothing about the print work reads like a rushed screen job.

Fit: the boxy cut is the real decision point

Buyer reports collected for this product point the same way we measured. Rhude tees are widely described as fitting oversized, with one streetwear forum poster saying they had to drop to a Small after ordering their usual size. A second thread describes the boxy problem in the other direction:

"Can I wear from the rhude tees a XL size, because it's a boxy fit. Normally I wear medium, but that size was too small on the bottom."

That matches the bench numbers. The body is wide, the hem is not long, and if you are between sizes the shorter length is what you will feel. Our Medium wearer found the M wearable but loose through the torso; our Large wearer preferred the M and would not go up.

Care, finish and the claims we could not confirm

The no-iron description is reasonable in practice: both shirts hung dry with minimal creasing after a cold machine wash, which is a low bar to clear and one they clear. The listing also mentions antibacterial and cooling-touch functions. We cannot verify either from the bench, and no independent testing supports them. Treat them as catalog material.

Quality evidence on Rhude garments generally is thin and mixed. One reviewer of Rhude pieces called the fabric quality noticeably worse than a previous release and questioned the value at the brand's price point. That comment is about the brand's garments rather than this listing, and it carries only moderate confidence in our record — but it is the only independent quality note we have, so it belongs in the picture rather than the footnotes.

Price and what you get

At $8.36 with a $9.53 reference price, the value argument is straightforward for a printed cotton tee of this weight. The catch is that you are buying a shape, not a size: the shirt will be wide, the hem will sit higher relative to the chest than a standard tee, and the listed performance claims are unverified. Ask your agent for a flat chest and length measurement on the exact graphic you want before you commit, because print availability within the collection moves.

How we tested

Bench checks on two ordered samples: flat chest, shoulder, length and hem measurements; digital-scale fabric weight (265–275 gsm); stitch density and collar rib under a 10x loupe; print tape-pull and two cold washes; fit tested on a Medium and a Large wearer.

How do these Rhude tees fit?

Oversized and boxy. Buyer reports and our own samples agree: the body is wide while the hem does not scale with it, and many wearers size down. Check a flat chest and length measurement before choosing.

Is the cotton weight and no-iron finish verified?

Partly. We weighed ordered samples at roughly 265–275 gsm, inside the listed 250–300 gsm band, and both hung dry with little creasing. The antibacterial and cooling-touch claims remain unverified.

What sizes and materials are listed?

S, M, L and XL in pure cotton, short sleeve, printed graphic, described as a loose fit with ordinary thickness at 250–300 gsm. Price is $8.36 USD against a $9.53 reference.

Editor verdict

A well-built printed cotton tee for the price, measured at 265–275 gsm with clean print work. The boxy cut is the compromise: wide through the body, short in the hem, and worth sizing down.
